This tool is useful for diagnostic and formative assessment as it allows for ideas to be gathered throughout a unit and built upon by the group.
The Postie tool is a very short WYSIWYG response similar to a post it sticker. It is a great diagnostic tool to engage prior learning and stimulate thought for future discussion.
The Life LMS also contains valuable collaborative assessment tools such as Surveys and Quizzes.
The Survey tool allows the teacher, or student to create a survey with a variety of choices for data collection. Responses can be in the form of multiple choice, text, ranking order or a selection of several answers.
The Quiz tool allows for teachers to create a simple quiz as a means of formative or summative assessment.
Life also acts as a repository for files, and slideshows, web links, and topic pages within Life.
Any sort of file can be uploaded into Life for students to access at home, making the platform ubiquitous between home and school environments. As long as the student has the program on the other end when they open it any sort of file can be uploaded and viewed or listened to or watched, ie. pdfs, Microsoft Office, Apple iLife, mps, images and videos.
Any url can be uploaded into Life for easy and safe access.
New pages for unit topics can be created and archived for later use. This is a great benefit for teachers who can also share these with other teachers and simply hyperlink to them from their main class page.
